Plan your month
The Plan tab is where you give every euro a job for the month.
Switching months
Section titled “Switching months”Use the previous/next arrows at the top of Plan to move between months. Each month has its own allocations, so you can plan ahead or look back at how a past month went.
The summary tiles
Section titled “The summary tiles”At the top of the page, four tiles summarize the month:
-
Income — money you’ve recorded coming in this month.
-
Rollover — unspent (or overspent) money carried over from the previous month.
-
Assigned — the total you’ve allocated to categories.
-
Unassigned — what’s left to give a job:
Unassigned = Income + Rollover − Assigned
Unassigned is the number to watch. When it reaches zero, every euro of income has somewhere to go.
Category groups and categories
Section titled “Category groups and categories”Categories are organized into groups, each with a color dot.
For each category you see:
-
Allocated — the amount you’ve budgeted this month.
-
Spent — what’s already gone out against it.
-
Open — committed open bills in that category (see Bills) that haven’t been paid yet.
-
Free — what’s actually left to spend:
Free = Allocated − Spent − Open
Assigning money
Section titled “Assigning money”Tap a category’s allocation to edit it inline — type the new amount and it saves immediately.
Renaming and deleting
Section titled “Renaming and deleting”Tap a category’s name to rename it. Deleting a category uses the trash icon, but Munto blocks the delete if the category already has transactions attached — move or reassign those first.
Adding categories and groups
Section titled “Adding categories and groups”Use the add controls on a group to add a new category to it, or add an entirely new group.
Rollover
Section titled “Rollover”Whatever’s left unspent (or overspent) in a category at the end of the month carries into the next month automatically — you don’t need to re-budget it manually.
Auto-filled suggested budgets
Section titled “Auto-filled suggested budgets”Munto looks at your spending history and classifies categories as recurring fixed, recurring variable, or occasional. Based on that, it suggests an allocation for each — shown as something like “~€45/time” or “3x/month” next to the category.
These are suggestions, not fixed targets: you can edit any suggested amount, and Munto won’t stop you from budgeting differently than your history suggests.
